First Pig
A friend of mine made his first kills (yes he got 2) this evening. I dont know who is more excited me or him! LOL Kinda made me think about my first kill, back in 1978 in Waianae valley a not bad size sow that my Dad guided me thru. What made it special was that I felt like my Dad made me a "Real Hunter" that day. Made me think about what everyone elses first kill was like. Share about your first kill..........

Re: First Pig
I am not to sure about the year but I remember my first kill was with my bow and arrow in puuanahulu, My uncle set me up upwind from a herd of goats and then got 5 yards behind me and started calling and ended up calling them within 10 yards of me. I remember drawing back and shaking like crazy
I took aim at the closest broadside billy and let the arrow fly, It hit the billy kinda far back and he took off with the rest of the herd over a hill. My uncle then told me " It's time to learn to follow the blood!" I remember when I saw the arrow hit the billy I was so proud of myself and then watching the billy run away just popped that bubble!
I thought it would drop right there! I headed to where the shot was made and saw the first few drops of blood at which time my uncle told me it was a nice shot and he shouldn't get to far so we followed the blood till we came to the top of the hill and then the trail hit the a'as so we stood on the hill and glassed the fields hoping to see it but it was nowhere to be seen so we kept following the blood trail till we got to a cave where the billy dropped! I was so excited when I saw it laying there I rememeber walking up and giving it the poke with the arrow and then realizing the rest of the herd was in the cave! My uncle then nocked his arrow and told me that there was another opening about 30 yards downhill that he wanted me to block so I left my billy there and headed downhill to the other opening and when I got there my uncle told me to throw a rock in the cave. When I did I remember seeing the herd flooding out like ants right into my uncle who was waiting! He shot a billy that was 3 times the size of mines! I then learned about the next part of hunting, Packing! As soon as I got home I measured the horns which were 10 inches!
I was so proud of it I still have the horns on my smokehouse! My uncle ended up getting his mounted and has it in his office. I will never forget the feeling of that first kill!
