Pole for casting off the beach
Hi, I saw this ad for sports authority:
http://sportsauthority.shoplocal.com/sportsauthority/default.aspx?action=browsecategoryl2&storeid=2564554&CatTreeID=4069&L2CatId=4069&L1CatID=&ref=%2fsportsauthority%2fdefault.aspx%3faction%3dbrowsecategoryl1%26storeid%3d2564554%26cattreeid%3d4057%26featuredcategorydropdown%3d1%253A4057
What you guys think? I am not a complete beginner but pretty much beginner. Thinking of buying a pole for kahala beach area or maybe china walls, or kakaako.
I have a little pole for catch and release talipia in the alawai but want something stronger, maybe catch a papio or moi or something.
They have zebco, okuma, shakespear and penn combos on sale this week.
Any of you guys got a combo set for sale?
Thanks for any advice anybody is kind enough to give.
Jeff

Cheap rods
Jeff,
I usually purchase a $25 Surf Rod at Sports Authority that is 11 foot long and give it to the maid at the hotel when I check out. Brian's in Honolulu has a DVD titled, "Baitcasting Basics" by Shorefishing Hawaii. If you live there and fish often, you will need to know the basics.

Brian Kimata of Brian's Fishing Supply in Honolulu gives the instruction in the DVD. His store is located at 1236 S King Street, Honolulu, HI 96814 (near Kaiser Hospital)
Here is the link for the Video:

The only reason I shop at places like Sports Authority and Wal*Wart is becasue a surf rod is too big to fly home with.
