Accuracy Systems Inc. custom 300 WSM
My friend shot this young boar with his new Accuracy Systems Inc. custom 300 WSM. Not too big but fat and a perfect neck shot at 204 yds.

Re: FIREARM PIC GALLERY...........
There's plenty places here that has 200yd shots and even 500+ yds, just depends on where you go. This pig was taken in Koke`e's public hunting area.

Reviving the rifle gallery
This was me filling my Kauai goat rifle hunting tags for Units B and E. Technically, I guess I took both in E. I hope the state holds a special hunt soon. Some portions were getting overgrazed and exposed to bad erosion.
At one point during the hunt, I was eating lunch after looking fruitlessly for some goats I heard. It started to rain lightly. I figured it would soon pass. Now I was feeling wet and wishing I had put on my coat. All the while, a nanny had walked all the way to within 20 feet of me. I looked up, realized, and went for my gun. She knew something was up, ran a short distance and stopped to look back just as I was centering the crosshairs. A 30-06 practically takes a goats head off at that distance. She fell off the rock landing on the shelf below. Her kid then popped up on the same rock. It was a woops moment but the kid began looking good too. She wasn't bad sized and looked fat. At the very least I could just consider it culling the herd (which it needed). So I made another headshot and she fell right near her mama. I'm always astonished at how much damage the 30-06 does to goats. It continued to rain and I waited it out under my coat, already soaked. More showed up and I watched as the horns of a big billy sway back and forth through the koa. I'm always partial these days to shooting the females. At the very least it contributes to keeping the numbers healthy and they make better eating. I figure I'll leave the billies to those who can better apreciate the trophy. After the rain passed, I went to check my kill. Nice goats! They even had a layer of fat. It seams many goats around there have fat and even smell less than the goats I'm used to shooting elsewhere. I gutted both, cut off their heads, rigged them up for carrying and made my way for the mules.

The east side of the Waimea canyon is probably the greatest game production area I have ever seen. I see out there wiliwili, robinson grass, haole koa, silver oak, java plum, monkeypod, lilikoi, avocado, prickly pear cactus, and more. Areas with many boulders have resisted soil loss and erosion and have a beautiful dark topsoil built up, cycling nutrients for both plants and animals. Almost everything provides food for game.
