Upfront! It definately can be done and has been done with just 1 dog! I would reccommend 2-4 grown dogs(depending on the caliber of each dog) and maybe 1 youngin learning at a time. If you decide to run your 2 dogs then I would either get 2 that are already best friends and will stick together or house them next to each other if not together to strengthen that bond. You can only keep 2 dogs but I am sure you have more friends than that, That could bring a dog or 2 and seal the deal and make it safer at the same time!

If you figure out a way to teach the dog to differentiate between what game to go after and not to point a pig out LET ME KNOW!

ACE + one
You absolutely can run 2 dogs with great success, even one if the right traits are there and not overlooked. I prefer this way and have done it for years. Occasionally I may put 3 on the ground at a time (tri-angle offense) but I always fall back to two or one.
This is a great question and I am really passionate about this type of training. After thinking about it though, I may be too passionate about it and some things may be taken the wrong way because of our own personal experiences with training animals so I'll leave it at " yes you can"

I figure they would both have to be pretty good size and both grab solid yeah? what would be the best breeds, traits to look for in a dynamic duo?

Bradda J,
You bring up a very good point that I believe is to often overlooked and that is the Training of the dog(s) we as hunters are hunting.
Some dogs are just naturals they need very little to no training at all and they are putting meat on the table. Some dogs do need alittle more training then others before they become what you want them to be.
Unfortunately I wrote a pretty lengthy answer to this question last night while up in the mountain and when I submitted it my computer froze and deleted what I had written and I wasnt about to do it all over again so thats why the short answer
.
Also besides the training the dog(s) receive theres other things that one must take into consideration.
Aloha!

Aloha Bradda Muns,
I hear you! I began and stopped because of all the variables involved and emotional aspects it may stir. Not only that, I would burn about 4 maybe 5 keyboards in the process. I find it hard to just throw out one or two things and leave it at that because it's never that simple. One thing depends on another which supports another that leads to another. It's systematic. Bowing out gracefully now..........exit stage left.
