Re: need a 22 riffle
Hey Kauai Hunta! As far as rimfires go and long distance I would reccommend the 22 mag and Remington 33gr Accu Tip V ammo and you would be looking at distances of 100-140 yards dead on. Is there a reason you like the .22 caliber?? Also remember anything smaller then 22 mag can get you in trouble with the DLNR.

Re: need a 22 riffle
Yeah they make 22 mag in pistol revolver and rifle. If you were getting the gun to do some plinking and to have some fun then I would say get an American Tactical Imports GSG AK-47 RIA (22lr) cause the ammo is cheaper if you don't go gunho! but if you were planning on running the dogs with a 22 mag then I would reccomend a Taurus 991 Revolver ( this thing looks nice and legal!)

Re: need a 22 riffle
I don't mean to make you seem a little on the unexperienced side as far as guns go so if you already know any of this information then I am sorry but I wasn't sure where to begin as far as your experience with the .22 rimfire.
First you've got the .22 short http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.22_Short
Then comes the .22 long http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.22_Long
Then we've got the .22 extra long which was ceased to be offered commercially in 1935
Then comes the .22 Long Rifle http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.22_Long_Rifle
And finally the .22 Mag http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.22_Mag
Depending on what you plan on shooting you would have to figure out what speed of ammo would go best with your set up
As far as "Basic" rifles go I believe the most popular would have to be a Ruger 10/22 because it has an extensive aftermarket selection. I personally think it is a little on the heavier side but with a few changes you have one sweet .22
I bought a .22lr Mossberg 702 Plinkster from S.A. here in Kona and I really like it and it has been a hit with the younger crowd when brought out to the range to let a few fly. There are so many different companies who build excellent weapons nowadays that you can pretty much search any major gun maker and they will have a rimfire selection. I have heard great things about Marlins Model39 and Savage also has alot of experience with the .22. Let me know if you need any more info or help!

So many things you can do to the gun, like this...
...but you'll end up spending many years in "pound you in the ass" prison.
