dogs and collars

on oahu,
cannot find cut collar, anyone selling or know a distributor?
preferably 5 inch, heavy duty if possible.
Also, looking for a track n grab dog, more on the tracking side
already got a good track n grab + grabbers
but need one helper to help find da pig
any breed is fine, any sex is fine
i will buy both the collar and the dog ASAP

I ended up making my own collars because I needed a wider collar than 4'' and the only place I found a 5'' is from http://www.cazadorescutgear.com/product_detail.asp?ID=93 but it was 32.00 before shipping! I get one friend that sell 4'' collars on Oahu but I pretty sure he no more 5''.

I took a look at that link you provided, Justacruzah, and also checked out the cost of kevelar fabric. The way I see it, I (or you) could easily make something like that, but it would probably end up costing about the same. Basically, there are two kinds of kevelar--K49 is made to be coated with a resin-- like fiberglass is, and K29 is the ballistic stuff used in bulletproof vests. K29 is about $50 a yard plus shipping, and the K49 is half that, but we don't want the K49. You could probably make 5 collars with 2 layers out of a yard of K29 so you are easily looking at $12~$15 per collar just in kevelar. Add in the cordura, webbing and buckles, plus a little for your time, and $32 is a pretty good price. I know that collars can be made pretty cheap, but it seems to me that a cut collar--which may save the life of your valuable dog that you worked hard to train--is the last place you want to get cheap on........just some thoughts from a gear maker's point of view for share wit you........

Maui Rhino- As far as making the collars yourself the "expensive" part is actually the collars or buckles themselves. I found a site where the Kevlar was sold in bulk and was decently priced. I ended up not using Kevlar in my collars and if you ask me I think they are superior to Kevlar collars as far as puncture resistance goes but then I am biased!
I would like to make my own with buckles and loops and Kevlar but haven't been able to find the hardware at a wholesale price just yet.

aloha bra just tought should let u kuow I bought some 5in collers from hayn hog dogs they work good for me check um out on line

Did you check out Strapworks.com? They have metal hardware, as well as webbing. Also take a look at Outdoor Wilderness Fabrics. They also carry metal hardware. Both companies have wholesale pricing, but you have to have a tax ID number.
