So I was just curious. What kind of cameras are you guys taking into the field? I am not talking about trail cameras, just the Digitals.

I got one of those flipHD video cameras. Pretty nice and compact. Takes good videos but no still pics.

Canon 780SD. Super small and easy to stuff in a pack.

I'm starting to carry one of these backpacking. Makes the timer photos much easier on a solo trip.
Pedco Ultrapod = 2.6 ounces, approx $15

Milo,

I use a similar one, not sure what it is called but it has rubber feet and can take pictures from 2" low to 15" high, Pretty compact and good when you want to take that group photo! Best $20 I ever spent!

I use a Canon Powershot A590. Takes great pics and does video too in a nice compact camera for under $200. I also carry a bit bigger tripod--20" long when closed, opens up to about 4'6" and weighs about 2.5 lbs. The tripod is nice for those solo pics, but best of all, I made an adapter plate so I can mount my binoculars to the tripod when glassing. Since I end up using the tripod more often, I don't mind hauling around the extra weight. It really makes glassing nice since the binos are held steady.

Now later on I'd like to get a nice spotting scope and digiscope adapter so I can take pics through my spotting scope. Very Happy

The water proof is a good option to get. Now with the Japanese, that made my CRY laugh!

Like I always say, main thing he work!,
