Heat Control tablets for Dogs and Cats
Composition:
Megestrol Acetate 10mg per tablet.
Action:
Megestrol is a semi-synthetic derivative of progesterone with progesteron like action (progestogen). Suppresses the secretion of GnRH (Gonadotropin-releasing hormone) from the hypothalamus and also suppresses follicular maturation and ovulation. The result is a similar to pregnancy state that occurs without heat symptoms.

Indications:
Interruption (blocking) and delay of estrus in female dogs and cats and to relieve sexually aroused male dogs and cats and the related changes in their behavior (satiriazis).

Contraindications:
Do not use in not sexually mature dogs and cats, pregnant animals and in cases of false pregnancy.
Also sould not be given to female Dogs and Cats with gynecological disorders of hormonal basis and gynecological infections.

Administration and Dosage:
Nemestron tablets are given orally
Dogs
Interruption of estrus
1-2 mg / kg body weight ( 1.5 mg / kg body weight) for 3 days beginning with the first signs of estrus (swelling of the vulva, the occurrence ofestrus blood discharge)
and 0.5 to 1 mg / kg bw in the next 7 days (1-2 tablets in the first 3 days and half to 1 tablet in the next 7 days)
Postponement of estrus (travelling,vaccations)
0.5 mg / kg bw daily, treatment beginning 7 days before expected estrus and continued until is needed (minimum 14 days), if necessary in order to prolong the effect, stop treatment for 10 days and repeat the above mentioned schedule.
Sexually aroused males (satiriazis) with or without aggression or other behavioral changescan be treated only once in every 6 months using the same schedule as in interruption of oestrus in female Dogs and cats.

Cats
Interruption of oestrus
5 mg / cat (half tablet) for 8 consecutive days beginning with the first signs of estrus

to postpone oestrus
2.5 mg / cat (1/4 tablet) 3 times weekly throughout estrus period
Male Cats - 2 mg / kg m for 30 days (until behavioural signs disappear).

Side effects:
Vomiting, anorexia, apathy, occurrence of lactation, a statistical increase in endometritis, pyometra and breast tumors cases.
10 tablets blister

The contraindications out weigh the indications of when to administer these meds. "do not give to sexually mature dogs/cats"??? what is to be considered 'sexually mature'? Usually that means to begin to reproduce but it's completely opinionated of what exactly is to be considered 'mature'. Im no vet by any means, but how can one use this when the contraindications out weigh the indications and this would probably never ever be used in an emergency situation that would require the over all benifit to out weigh the contraindications?

Just something to think about Sheldz....

Well Doc?
You as a dog owner should know when your female dog should be coming into heat if you owned her for a while. obviously you're not going to give it to a 4 month old female this is for people who has dogs,knows thier dogs and does not want puppies or who wants to hunt the dog year round. Normal heat cycle comes in six month intervals but cycles can happen every month last from a day to weeks you as the owner should know these things..
If you clean your kennels everyday and look at your dog everyday you will see signs that she is or your male dogs will let you know..

I'm interested my dogs come in heat all bout the same time right now I get 4 in heat so I down some dogs this tournament but we see might get lucky with my pups n my other dogs..... Take bradda sheldz

I have had the same thing happen to me also just recently and if I had the pills would've been no lost time in the mountains for the young dogs and the pills would've helped with these kinds of situations. Take cares my Braddah!

The word "not" is a game breaker. I miss read it and miss read it a bunch of times because of the numerous times I read it. I couldn't wrap my finger around the idea of the medication not to be used on sexually matured dogs. My apologies.
