Time for a rest

Me rest from hunting!? Some may wish but NO not today! I picked up a few new arrows and decided it's time for a new rest, I had the launcher on my bow a few years back but one hunting trip it wouldn't reset and went limp so I put on a Flipper Rest (Sticker type) but it ate the fletchings off my arrows! I'm wondering if anyones got any recommendations? Heard good and bad about Whisker Biscuit, Is the Catawba really better? Thanks again for any advice or experience anyones willing to share! Far from rich but if it's worth the investment I'm willing to collect the recyclables!

Shooting an older Hoyt @ about 50 lbs, Instinctual! Not sure if that makes a difference in recommendations!

I shoot with this rest on a 65# draw PSE Spyder. Works great, locks your arrow in and doesn't hinder flight or hurt your fletchings.

Is that a recurve or a compound bow being shot without sights? For a compound, a whisker biscuit is a nice rest, especially for shots under 40 yards. IMHO, the dropaways really being to shine at longer shots where the WB may steal a few valuable feet per second of speed. If you are shooting a compound without sights, you won't be taking longer shots anyway. I used a WB for seveal years and never had any problems with them. Very much a set-up-and-forget piece of gear. Use locktite on the screws, as I remember losing one of the screws that hold the biscuit in place once. I may have an old one laying around, if it didn't already end up on my son's bow.

For a recurve, look at shooting off the shelf, or get a plunger-type rest. I don't shoot much traditional, so I can't really help you there. Maybe you can send a PM to Lyle. I believe he is into traditional.

I use a wisker biscuit type rest. I think its a hostage rest if i'm not mistaken. It has only three spots of the wiskers that hold the arrow in. I love it but I was shooting one of those old school rests before.



From what i've read with the regular whisker biscuits is that you're supposed to shoot shorter vanes or it will bend the whiskers. Something like that but not sure how true that is. Maybe misadventure knows.

Just wanted to say BIG MAHALO to Babooze for hooking me up with a new rest! Threw it on Saturday night and took a few shots yesterday before heading into the bush today for a quick cruise! Stalked a healthy boar but he caught wind of me before I could get a shot on him and blew his boogers at me as he ran away, Thought he was taking a nap actually!
