Calling all Wahiawa Hunters- Reward

The Division of Forestry and Wildlife has been conducting wildlife research on wild pigs in the Poamoho area over the last eight months. We have a single male pig with a gps tracking collar on it in the Kuakonahua drainage area that we could use some help recovering. Any hunter who’s able to catch this pig, recover our collar safely, and return it to me undamaged will receive a reward of a new good quality hunting knife, new hunting pack, or dog cut collars. The map details the last place the collar was tracked. This collar produces vhf pulse on frequency 151.001 MHz between the hours of 10am and 3pm. The pig was trapped and collared in April 2013. At the time it was a 72 lbs. boar and was 3/4 mile NE of the Schofield-Waikane Trail Head (Top of the World). I've given a link to a map of the area and the tracking points from the last 8 months. We most recently picked up the signal about 500yrds NW of the Schofield Waikane Trail Head on 12/2/13. Please call me if you have any information.

First off let me say I speak only for myself here. Now that that's out of the way are you seriously asking the hunter's from that area for help to recover a pig that has a gps tracking collar. The same hunter's who's hunting area you are fencing off??? Answer me this, if you cant catch a gps collared pig how on earth are you supposedly going to clear that fence once completed??? You cant keep a fence accessible by vehicle pig free how are you gonna do it in this remote area???

Was this pig collard for the reason of mapping the routes they take to get into the hunting area?.....so your gonna fence the access that feeds the hunting area?...man even the legal areas are not gonna have pig....I highly doubt that fence stays intact...Wahiawa Hunters do go out that area....not saying it's right but most those guys have nothing to loose.

Pig caught already. Nowhere near the poamoho access road. Behind wahiawa east range side where it was last tracked on the map. Yeah Chris they fencing the right side of the poamoho ridge trail... Pretty soon no more pig only fences all ovah unreal...

I know that da pig wasnt no where near poamoho trailhead. Thats cool if you or someone else went and caught it to help the state. My biggest question to them is how the state can come on the forum asking hunters for help. Yet cant come on this forum to let the hunting community know that a portion of a PUBLIC hunting area is gonna get fenced off. In essence us huntaz helping someone who doesnt have the intestinal fortitude to come out and let the same ppl they ask for help know they are fencing a portion of thier hunting area off.

On top of that what hes doing has been done in the forest of hawaii for generations already by way of ear/tail marks etc even as extreme as tattooing as my grandpa & dad did back in the day. Just nowadays its telemetry n gps but da data still the same its all good my bradda not all huntaz is as dumb as they make us out to be.

Was funny cause someone put the notice up on Instagram an everybody was goin pile into poamoho thinkin they goin catch um in dea lol some people cannot read one map haha!

Sup everyone i never come on here for a while and seen Chris millers post and had to laugh!! Fencing will begin shortly! All the materials are being brought up to poamoho already!!! I cannot believe they are fencing up one more of our "public hunting area"! This rite here is so fucked up! Here on oahu we have only a very limited hunting area and this is what the state wants to do why do you think we have alot of poaching going on? Because of stupid shit like this! Poamoho is one of my favorite places to hunt and i can honestly say there is not as much pigs in there as it used to be! I hunt all where they are planing to fence.

the only thing that you're going to hear son is crickets I don't know what they were thinking about when they posted this on a hunting forum. there's no way that we can stop it. the government here is not for the people it is for big business and federal funding.
so hunters you know what we have to do. we just have to carry a little bit more tools when we go to the mountains. their defense is that it outside the legal hunting area. they could give a monkeys ass if it affects the legal hunting area. trust me I saw what the fence did to Schofield first hand. the state slaughtered over 400 pigs in less than one year inside the fence. it was a bitter sweet ending for me I hunted that mountain all my life so if it was going to happen I wanted to be in there so I can witness first hand what happens. the hunting community didn't think it was a big deal because this was not a public hunting area and it was considered federal ground.s but it was my hunting area.

Braddah every island losing every piece of hunting grounds EVERY PIECE N CHRIS KNOWS IT N THEY COULD CARELESS ABOUT US . CUT THERE FENCES SO THEY GOTTA SPEND THERE MONIES TO FIX THEM N CANNOT GO AND DO MORE FENCES BECAUSE MONEY GOTTA FIX FENCES.

Another note DLNR will seek to ask gov to put strict fines on fence cutting cuz they know it's coming . Folks they know it's coming

These donkeys taking our grounds n no care !!! Make them spend all there money n fix broken fence . It cost them around $800 for a helicopter a hour to send fencers n supplies back in there make um burn up there money . I guarantee you if hunters on every island start wrecking fences quick they gonna like talk story n want to come to a middle ground . F* ck them it's too late
