Recent Taxidermy projects
Howzit Guys,
My old taxidermy mentor just passed away from a tragic tree cutting accident. I just got a letter from his wife with the bad news. I think he would be proud of the work I am doing these days. I learned a lot from him over 25 years ago but still use a lot of the tricks he taught me. I recently got done with the mounts I made from my trips to Kauai and Big Island in March. I tanned the capes myself. I am stoked at how well they came out. Now I can look at em and remember all the fun I had catching them with my friends. Thought you guys might like to check em out. One boar that had to weigh 250ish? One small mouflan ram that feels like a trophy to me. One small Omilu papio that was sooo beautiful when I caught him (I never seen electric blue fins like that before, but reminded me of a mahi or when a striped marlin lights up). Also the tail, wings and skull from that peacock, and also the vertebrae from a 80 lb boar that got spined by a Rage 100 grain 2 blade (72 lb draw weight at 12 yards)- the same boar I missed with a spear but cut him on the brisket 3 days earlier and a over a mile away from that spot I arrowed him. Even though I missed him with the spear, it was meant to me, he came back to me and then the Rage head put him down for the count.
Anyhowz, some pics of my self made taxidermy, I owe a lot of my taxidermy know how to my friend I just found out passed away. We taught me more than just taxidermy. He shaped my life. Life is short braddahs, enjoy every moment and live it to the fullest because you never know when the gig is up. Mahaloz for checkin out my pics.
Aloha,
AK Andy

Aloha AK Andy,
There is wisdom in your words.Live in the moment completely as tomorrow is still just a probability.
From one taxidermist to another, well done.

Awesome mounts! In a few more years, you're gonna need another house for all the fish.

Nice mounts Andy. That Bluegill is making my mouth water. I'm headed to Minnesota next month where some big Gills will be pupus before the main feast of Walleye.

Re: Recent Taxidermy projects
Mahaloz guys for all the comments, yeah I am running out of wall space, I got one cabin also very full of mounts and racks, problem is that moose and caribou racks and skulls take up way too much space. The bear rugs are on the floor. I got one other cabin up in the interior that is just getting finished, and will likely be the next wall space I have available to put mounts. Hopefully room for a big tusker hog some day and more rams. (also an axis, antelope, bull elk, new zealand stag, kudu, gemsbok, and a few other things I am hopeful to catch someday.
My friend is looking down upon me and his influence of my work and smiling.
gotta take my son to school now, laters

Yeah Milo, that's less than half of my fish mounts that you can see in the pics on this thread, I got O'io, tunas, jacks, grayling, pike, a tuke, salmon, various trout, and other kines.
yeah Kauai808 up here in AK I proudly sport THE mullet brah! but if I lived over there in the heat I would have it all hacked off to stay cool, also to keep the Ukus easy to pick off my scalp.
