KAYAK OR CANOE FISHING TOURNEMENT
THIS IS 2008 Makahiki Tournament

Starts on Feb 1, 2008 Ends on September 30, 2008
The Makahiki (yearly) Tournament is our most prestigious contest. You will be fishing vs. the best yak fisherman Oahu has to offer. Overall knowledge and skill will be tested as we compete around the island. Over 8 months you will be able to choose your OWN open fishing dates to accumulate points. Whether you are a weekend warrior or training during the Kanaka Ikaika you select which days will count. At the end of the tournament the Hunter with the most cumulative points will be declared our inaugural Champion. Winners will be honored at a banquet with trophy and prizes. Registration is open all year. And please my braddahs, no cheat!
RULES and INSTRUCTIONS
1. Entrance fee of $30.
2. Anglers will have 40 days to select as tournament fishing days. These days are at your discretion (send an e-mail or post your intentions in the Aquahunters forum before you go fishing and then report your catch that same day).
3. All Aquahunter and Hui Waa tournaments will count towards your chosen fishing days.
4. Anglers NEED to report via E-mail to isaac@aquahunters.com or report in the Aquahunters forum. BEFORE you fish to record your catch. You must report your catch that same day for it to count.
5. No need to be an Aquahunter Club Member to join.
6. Kayak and OC-1 (one man canoes) Categories
7. Fish must be caught off kayak or OC-1
8. AH Tournament catches will also go toward cumulative points.
9. Fish caught on any Hui Waa Fishing events will count also.
10. Points will be awarded for fish species and weight.
11. Two fish may be reported in a day unless you have a Trifecta Bonus.
12. Fish counted in the Trifecta Bonus will also get weight and record bonuses.
13. You can submit a Yak fish picture or video for verification of a record catch.
14. Some fish may need a reference for size. i.e. ruler, bottle, etc.
15. Fish may be caught and released (you will then need a picture).
16. Fish must be caught by hook, line and pole combination or hand lines only.
17. Assistance may be used in landing fish but, not fighting them.
18. If assistance is given in the fight, then points will be split.
19. Discrepancies will be reviewed by the TEAM.
20. Standings will be updated each month.
21. Cheating or lying may result in disqualification from the tournament.
22. Sharks, birds, turtles or mammals are not eligible.
23. Points for Weight and State records must be verified at qualified locations for example, Roys fishing
P.O.P, and Haleiwa fishing supply.
24. If undersized or Illegal fish are turned in you will be penalized accordingly.
25. Fish must be caught on day or days of event
26. Please fish with one or two partners at all times.
27. Dates are subject to change due to weather conditions.
28. Trifecta Bonus: Mahi, Ono, Shibi, or Ulua combo. 3 of the 4 will count. But only one of each species.
29. IMPORTANT: NO fish under 1lb will be counted. We would like all our participating anglers to use
proper judgement and remember to be conservation conscious on all your fishing trips. The more you give, the more you get.
