What a weekend.

Howzit everyone, just wanted to share a lil bit of my weekend and ask for some advice. This past weekend i was able to hunt with my uncle after months of not being able to go. We started early as usual and after checking a few of our normal hunting spots we couldnt find any signs of pigs. So we decided we would go to a spot my uncle hunted back when he was young. It was incredible to say the least. The closer we got to our destination the more signs of pigs we were finding. After not seeing anysigns at all the whole day the dogs were working hard. U just had that feeling something was up. sure enough not even 50 yards from us we hear a boar trying to breed one sow in the opposite directions all the dogs just took off in. only one dog came back past us to answer the scream. He went up and ima assume he was chasing the boar, because the sow ended up sneaking down right to us. The pig came within 5 feet of us before she looked at us and almost tripped cuz of the shock. the pig ended up darting off after gathering itself again, in the same direction that the 3 other dogs had taken off in. The sow look to be atleast a 100 pounds, and after seeing it take off in the same directions as the dogs i was on edge waiting for that scream! but it never came. We hit a few pigs after that but the dogs were so tired from our journey there, it all ended up being smoke jobs. Well anyways i wanted to ask, if i should have tried to like kick the pig or do something to get the dogs coming back to us, i figure if they were they probably would have stopped the pig idk. This is the first pig ive been that close to with out having dogs on it( atleast of that size). Ive always told myself if a pig ran by me i was gonna do w.e i could to try and catch it, but when i seen the pig and how big it was i was ready for climb the tree. So i was just wondering what would u do if u were in my shoes and that happen? and dont say shoot it cuz we no more gun ; ( if not that sucka woulda got it.lol

I tried to grab a nice sized sow as she ran past me once, I ended up being drug about 10 feet before letting go! Some times thats just the way it goes and as long as the dogs were working then there isn't much more you could ask for but if you like add a little more excitement to the day you could try grab it or even try rope um if you can get a rope out fast enough. I have been looking at a set of throwing knives that I think would be an interesting method but I'm not sure if the knives would have enough weight behind it to create a fatal wound and I'm not to sure about the idea of a boar running around with a knife sticking out of his puna when the dogs try grab um!

I'm not sure what kind of pack you run but you could always stay at the spot you saw the pig and when the dogs come back try put them on the track.

haha cuz i had moments like that. i went catch 2 pigs wen they came past me like that was to boa's but was young boa's on to spread hunts 1 i went stickem and the other hog jujitsu

Haha some throwing knives would be G! if u ever done a pig with one, you gotta share the story. Yea i had an awesome day none the less, but yea i think the dogs was to tired already even if we dropped them on the fresh track they woulda got smoked. but whos to say they werent chasing it. Idk looks like i gotta start training in some hog jujitsu! haha gotta work for the black belt status!
