I work for the Army's Natural Resource Program our main objective is protecting the rare and endangered species on Military lands and do mitigation work on state,federal and private lands as well. I started off doing all aspects of the job but about 4 yrs ago moved into a full time fencing position. The only eradication we do is in fenced off exclosures where we build a fence and animals remain inside. Its few and far between we try to work with the community but we are not the manager so we can only suggest but we dont/cant make that decision(s). So my job right now is building pig/goat fences around areas that have rare/endangered species. This job is a two edged sword sometimes but my stance has always been that its better to have a hunter(s) in there to try and persuade those who have the authority to do what is right. Does it always work HELL NO but if theres no one telling them they will never differ. Also my stance has always been more areas to hunt and access into other areas. Getting replacement lands meaning if we fence off part of a forest replace that area somewhere else that hunters can use etc. Its a very big struggle and sometimes very hard to bite your tongue but I believe the answer lies somewhere in the education of both sides so we can work together to both of our benefit.
