Lindsey tournament was juice!

my cuzn frm hilo took da tournament with a 176lb gorilla boar n da 1st place price was 50 bucks.. das rip off man.. jus lettin u huntaz knw.. no good prices fo 1st place evn..

Howzit! I have never entered a tournament due to the "I gotta win!" mentality that some braddahs(and couple sistahs 2) bring to the table so I think these tournaments that have less prizes and are centered around the fact of getting together in the mountains and then hopefully later on by the sea just to get together and have a friendly competition are a great thing. I also think the organizer could have said something on the flier so the guys that put more then $50 driving from Mauka 2 Makai can figure this into their decision whether they like participate. I also have seen quite a few tournaments put together and know that if you only get one or 2 sponsors for help you out, The rest comes from your pocket! You no get one trophy or even bag dog food for your dogs when it's done! It's for the love of the game! Just wanted to give you some outside perspectives!

first of all not to push anyones buttons or anything, just my 2 cents. I was there checking out the weigh in from 4o'clock til the banquet was over. a not bad number of pigs came in from 80lbs to 167lbs firstplace boar, and 121lb firstplace lahole. first of all i dont know if you were there, but yah your cousin guys pulled out a nice pig from hilo, and im glad they traveled from hilo to participate in the lindsey waimea tournament! if you were there jason lindsey who hosted this tournament did explain the situation of the turn out for this tournament. in the past previous years their was 70-90 entries, as for this year their were only 20 something!!! we all know that times is hard for everyone now days, the economy sure aint the greatest so the turn out for this year did affect the prizes. on top of that hawaiian homes hall which the weigh in was held was $250 just for one day to rent!!! jason did a good job explaining and trying to make sure everyone understood the turn out of the tournament. main thing is everybody had fun hunting and being in the mountain! hope theirs a better turn out next year and hope more people can enter!

the tournament did have a banquet after which fed the hunters and their familes. this tournament had 1st-5th places. if you did place you were given a plaque atleast for 4th and 5th place. 1st 2nd 3rd got cash, and 1st place got a cooler and some lil prizes as well as cash. put all the time money and effort into everything and things add up!!! when entering a tournament it is likely to spend over hundred dollars just to enter a tournament and taking the chance of winning or not. gas, lunch, entry fee. mahalo braddahs for listening hopefully the next coming tournaments we all can have fun, eat, talk stories and drink together! au'ryte
