BREAKING STICKS
Having a breaking stick around can come in handy when you need it.

Re: BREAKING STICKS
I just posted this and figured I had better explain my comment. If the dog is properly trained there is no reason you should have to touch the dog at any time! I hunt alone so there is noone to grab dogs for me or hold the pig except for the dogs. I have tried to take dogs off while holding down pigs, I have scars to prove it! Break sticks were created to break up 2 dogs that were "locked on", These dogs were never taught an "off" or "out" like we're able to with pig dogs. I'm just whole heartedly behind training, Sorry if I when rub anyones ego AGAIN! I'll probabaly do it again soon!Jusacruzah wrote:Could you imagine if the police had to use a break stick to get their dogs off of you?

Re: BREAKING STICKS
No ego's bruised, Jusacruzah. I thought it was funny. Not too long ago the Crime Reduction Unit held guns to me and my hunting partner's heads because we fit the description of some guys who pulled a gun at a party. They didn't have dogs but it might have been less scary than having an AR-15 in your ear and thrown to the ground and drop-kneed in your shoulder blade. True story.
Over here, sometimes we hunt with our other hunting friends and they bring their dogs and we bring ours. And no body goes into the mountain thinking about their dogs beefing with each other. But on occasion, they do. A horn dog puppy gets to frisky with a bitch that aint interested can start a revolution with the dogs. Some body makes a mistake and throws an empty vienna sausage can on the ground and you got a riot. I've seen dogs get kicked in their ribs, had their heads konked with the butt end of a 30-30 and it would have been easier getting them to let go with a breaking stick.
I don't know anything about you and you don't know anything about me. You can run your mouth any way you like, but I hope you can take it when someone runs their straight back at you. Fair? I post stuff on this forum, because its a place where ideas can be shared and exchanged. I don't go around trying to insult other people or make off the wall comments and trying to be funny. Not at their expense. It boils down to having good intentions. People who read this can see whats going on. If you don't like a breaking stick, thats fine with me. If you got your dogs so well trained, more power to you. Again, I thought your first remark was funny. But if you think you can just false crack guys with your posts then maybe you ought to think about why you do the things you do.

Re: BREAKING STICKS
Ego maybe not bruised but definately rubbed! I am challenging you and any other hunter to have the best handle they possibly could on their dogs! Not for my own gain and definately not because I want to see anyone struggle or fail. Everyday more and more hikers want to take their dogs along, Our pack on their 2 doesn't look good even if they threw the vienna can down! News guys love a good story! I am sorry if you took my comment as a false crack but here on the www an ego and pride will be a hardship on any great discussion.
Who am I?
I am confident in my "work" with dogs!
I am confident that if we are walking up trail and 2 pigs cross in front I have a dog that will stop the bigger!
I am confident I can hunt where 10 other dogs are just out for their walks and my dogs won't start a thing and if the other dog did I will be stitching my dog.
I am cocky enough to post this online to you, I am confident enough to invite you down to see! PM me for my #!
Once again I am sorry if I rubbed you wrong but I meant it with a bunch of resepct with the sting of the truth in there!

Re: BREAKING STICKS
Believe me I know all to well guys who throw logs, rocks, guns and just about lose their minds trying to control their dogs! Good fun to watch and listen to as you walk away with your dogs! Anybody who is willing to work on their dogs handle and needs help feel free to ask, You know I'll answer and hopefully VBK will chime in with some advice! Hopefully we can retire the sticks to door stoppers!
