The bill has been butchered but we need to get it pass the Ways and Means (WAM) and to conference where Rep Evans and Senator Solomon can hash it out! This is where language can be firmed up.
1) The theme this time around is to be positive. We should replace "No Net Loss" with "Sustainable Hunting", or "Sustainable Hunting Opportunities" to that effect.
2) Mention in your testimony that the hunting community has compromised and we look forward to DLNR reciprocating. Stress that hunting and hunters are the first conservationists, we love our forest and our Islands and we want to work together. Our public lands belong to all of us and it should be managed to benefit all.
3) Request that the State Hunting Advisory Commission consist of 11 members not twelve. No need to have someone from tourism. Express the importance of having a State hunting commission. We need to be at the table with DLNR when it comes to managing our game and public hunting areas.
4) This is a good opportunity to show that we are willing to work together. We not the bad guys!
5) And as always let them know why hunting and our game animals are all so important to us! Never forget that!
Please share with others that can testify in support.
