Thanks for the info!
I just wanted to hi, or should I say aloha and that I appreciate everyone who has taken the time to post information on here about hunting in Hawaii. I will be visiting your great state in Feb for the first time and am really looking forward to not only a break from the cold Alaskan winter, but from what I can tell, a really cool hunting opportunity! Information on hunting in Hawaii seems to be almost non-exsistant, but this site has been very helpful in deciding what I want to do, again, thanks!

I am planning on hunting the Na Pali coast. I will have a couple days to do it, so probably hiking in/out a couple times due to the camping restrictions. I will also be on the big island and oahu as well. I am still looking for a few ideas in case I am able to sneak away for a few hours at either of those places and chase some critters. If not though, no worries, because the first hunt sounds like a lot of fun!

Camping permits are $10/night for Hanakapiai and Hanakoa. State parks usually lets hunters stay at Hanakoa for more than one night on the days that they have valid archery permits. Just caught two goats and a nice boar around Hanakoa. Lots of pigs right now int eh guava. Must have come across pigs at least 10 times on the hike in at night and a few more times during the days including the one killed. Goat numbers are much lower than in the past but still very huntable. Even saw some trophy billies. Few people are going in lately and even fewer reporting kills.

I live on a remote island in Prince William Sound in the Native Alaskan village of Chenega Bay, but I have been travelling to Kauai the past few winters for a break from the cold. I hunt and fish as much as possible both at home and when away. Send me a PM if you want, so we can keep this forum Hawaiian.

How far in you going? I wouldn't mind going if you want someone to go with.
