Check it out
I'd call these guys: WGS in Hawaii Kai (Joe), John Perriera (Phone book-he lives in Kaneohe/Hauula). There is also a gun shop in Kaneohe town, sorry I don't remember the name.
My experience with Young Guns-Their not helpful at all especially if you have questions or buying on consignment.
Good luck-
Sorry I don't have phone numbers. I lost my phone up Haleakala and haven't caught up with numbers outside of the vault, brain:(

You can also try:
Security Equipment Corp
(808) 589-0911
1322 Young St
Honolulu, HI 96814
Magnum Firearmswww.magnum50.com
940 Queen St
Honolulu, HI 96814-4133
(808) 597-1911
These two shops along with young guns probably have the most in stock inventory where you might find what youre looking for. Looks like youre looking for a 22 mag. so they would be your best bet to have something in stock. Since you already looked at SA then you could give those a try. Which SA did you go to Ward??? if so did you ask them to contact their waikele and kapolei stores to see if they had any in stock???
Unfortunately WGS in Hawaii Kai (Joe/Henry) and JP Enterprises in Kahalu'u (John Perriera) which Ikester mentioned while awesome people they dont carry a large inventory of rifles on hand though it doesnt hurt to call and ask.
BTW, Magnum would be my last desperate try hopefully someone else has what youre looking for, Goodluck in your search.

Re: Good hunting shop for rifles?
Kauai808, From the sound of your post I am guessing you are wanting a .22 mag for running the dogs and then a Mini-14 for some distance?? If you ask me I would go with something with a little more oomf behind it for those distance shots. The Mini-14 comes in .223 and 6.8mm(based on the .30 remington) if I were set on the Ruger I would go with the 6.8 configuration! If not set on the Ruger I would reccomend a .308 or 30-30, If I could only afford 1 rifle to use both in bush and for shots with little more distance I would buy a 30-30! Good luck and stay safe!

Howzit Bradda Warren, Exactly why I said they would be my last desperate try
Kauai 808, If youre just gonna need something to slaughter pigs then the 22 Long Rifle will work ive killed 1000+ lb pigs with just a plain ol' 22 LR with no problem. But if dual purpose then I would get a 22mag as well. I think Jusacruzah gave you very sound advice about the
30-30 I would take that anyday over a mini 14. goodluckin your search and I hope you find what youre looking for.
Aloha!

.223
The .223 or 5.56mm rounds works for a lot of game. Its all about shot placement. I wouldnt think about a 150 yd shot on a pig with a .22 lr or even a .22 mag but wouldnt think about it for a second with a .223 or even out to about 400 yds. Would you want to go into the bush looking for a pig that was pissed of because someone hit it with a .22.
As far as the Mini 14 that's a rifle that functions well but has a shortcoming for accuracy at past 150 yds. a good bolt gun in a carbine like a remington SPS tactical is a good rifle for pigs out to 400 yds. Its what I use and hasnt failed me yet. There are lots of different weight bullets out there that can do the job

I'm sorry I missed understood the slaughter pigs part! Like Koa reccomended a 22lr will drop um with sweet placement but I would just go with the mag so it will be more versatile. I definately wouldn't reccommend a .223 for point blank shots!

Wow lots of things to consider. I might have to look into the 30-30, sounds about right for me. I gotta see how much they run cost wise. What's the farthest you would wanna shoot with that gun?

What about 30-30 for close up? Too much power?

Re: Good hunting shop for rifles?
Using a Remington 170gr HP at 200 yds you're looking at a velocity of 1619 and energy of 989 so with that said I reccommmend 175 yards max and use caution with the close up shots cause it will most likely pass through depending on the shot.

Re: Good hunting shop for rifles?
If you are hunting with dogs, .22 mag is the way to go. Seen and heard of dogs going deaf after a few years of hunting and getting shot over with larger calibers. I got lucky, a cousin sold me his .22 magnum(Marlin). Also bought a stainless Marlin .22 mag from a friend, and got a .22 Mag pistol for helping out another friend with making some gates. Good luck with your rifle shopping!

Re: Good hunting shop for rifles?
Ok guys, so I went to young guns and magnum and both places where really helpful except for one of the bosses at magnum. I checked out the guns and decided to check sports authority again. They had a ruger 10/22 synthetic stocks on sale cheaper then the regular ones. So I picked one up and am excited to use it. Y.G. Had a used one with a scope for 250 if anyones interested. Sa brand new was 230.
Thanks everyone for the help.

Ya I don't think I'm gonna hunt with it. Just kill pigs in a pen. Well I do have a feeder up for my bow at 15 yards at my house so maybe then if I'm tired of my bow.
