Whew...I just got back from a hike up the left side of Makua Keeau. No goats, but good fun. Eric & I watched a group of caves. When I blew a distress call hard several times, 3 goats came out and looked all over for the "keiki" in distress. It was late, so they didn't really want to move, but it was fun learning what they will respond to.

what kind of call were you using. I am very interested in getting one that will at least make the goats move?

I'm pretty sure this was the one we were using. the goats came out from where they were sleeping to check out the sound. as with any call start real soft the first call then increase each call after that. call for 2 min then wait 5 min.

I think you can get them from John Sabati on the big Island.

Aloha all,

I'm heading to Kona on Thursday night and I'm debating on taking my bow or golf clubs. Is there any decent public pig or goat hunting near Waikoloa? I really don't mind hiking or sore legs. I'd prefer to go kill some stuff but if there isn't anything easy for someone unfamiliar with the area i'll play some nice golf instead.
Thanks,
Hunter Steve

That's okay, I completely understand! I have a hunting party on Schofield Barracks and can't always get out. The offer goes back at you if you are ever over on Oahu on a weekend and want to go kill some pigs. It takes a little pre-planning but can be done, I would just need to add you to my hunting party and provide them with a copy of your hunting license.

I guess it's Golf clubs instead...better then a good day in the office Smile
