TODAY!!! PROTEST PLDC and GMO's.

We would like to offer some action to start off 2013. We would like to bring people together to speak to our government.
There will be many concerns, but one loud voice...the VOICE OF THE PEOPLE!
This is a grass roots effort to redirect our government away from the corporate interest and to hear our voices.
We want our HEALTH and the HEALTH of our islands PROTECTED for our future generations: LABEL GMOs
We want a government that listens to the people, has a fair, open and transparent process: REPEAL THE PLDC
We want Hawaiian Rights honored and recognized: PROTECT THE IWI KUPUNA, RETURN THE WATERS, DE-OCCUPY.
This is a time to LOKAHI, those who love these islands, those who have a kuleana to the future, those who believe government is OF, BY and FOR the people.
Lets make 2013 a year of action: JAN. 16 2013 OPENING DAY OF OUR LEGISLATURE (1.) 8:30am "HELEKU MARCH" from UH campus (Dole and University Ave.) to State Capitol. (2.) 9:30am "WE THE PEOPLE RALLY" at the State Capitol.
IT WILL BE A GREAT DAY TO COME TOGETHER: GREAT SPEAKERS---MUSIC---FOOD---TAKE BACK YOUR HOUSE... "STATE CAPITOL"
YOU NEED TO DO YOUR PART...SPREAD THE WORD, CONTACT YOUR GROUPS, FRIENDS AND FAMILY.

If anybody like stop by the Capitol and has some questions feel free to stop by the PAR Office! I had the chance to attend a meeting about the upcoming legislative session and they were very helpful!

EVERYONE, Please try to join the march. It would be great to have many hundreds of people, dare I dream, more than a thousand... all marching, showing all those politicians there is broad support against corporate/political corruption in the form of the PLDC (fast sell of public lands), and the stalling of labeling of GMOs.
Tomorrows march is ON, from the organizers:
We are gathering at Bachman lawn (corner of Univ. & Dole)-- march begins at 8:30AM. There will be a 48 seat bus leaving at 8:45A from Sinclair Circle for those who want to attend the rally but don't want to walk. The bus is primarily to pick up people after the rally and take them back to campus--the bus will leave the Capitol at 12:15.
For those joining along the way, the walk is down University, and through Beretania. There's a city permit, so we may have a lane open! Get your banners ready!

The event went well. A lot of people showed up. Many marched from the University of Hawai'i onto Beretania and onwards to the State Capitol.
Walter Ritte spoke. Jamaica Osorio did a spoken word poem for Liliu'okalani. Makana sang his We Are The Many song and Vandana Shiva gave a great talk
about GMO's. Kalo was made into pa'i'ai and food was also served for free. It was opening day at the legislature and I'm sure they got an earful of the sounds
of voices demanding that the PLDC be repealed and that labeling of GMO's is a must. Some Native Americans and First Nations people from Canada were in attendance along with choke local people and Kanaka Maoli including keiki from Halau Ku Mana and other immersion schools. The event was billed as being connected to the Idle No More movement that is sweeping across Canada and throughout the world. Walter Ritte acknowledged that movement and said that it was a movement that was for indigenous peoples' rights, especially where their lands, their culture and their identities are under great threat from land grabs, GMO's etc.
