Hunting by the lunar calander
I was wondering if any one could share their experience with hunting when there is a full moon. I'm guessing that when there is a full moon or nearly full (waxing/waning), that hogs/game feed later in the evening limiting their daylight activity. Any thoughts?

Re: Hunting by the lunar calander
I have found that on the big island it is better to hunt hogs/sheep when there is no moon. To me when it is full moon the animals have moved to where they want to stay for the day late that night. So when there is a full moon I hunt sheep where they bed when it is mid day. But when there is no moon then I hunt them where they pass to get to the feeding ground. But thats just me!

Re: Hunting by the lunar calander
i have no evidence to back up my theories, but ive always believed pigs are moving more on full moon nights and bed down during the day. No moon nights when they can't see very well I've always thought they are a bit more active during the day. Again, these are just my hairbrained theories.

Moon cycle
The reason this caught my attention was over the last few weeks- the hogs were coming to feed consistantly between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. Now with the waxing moon, their not coming out until 9:30 p to 0130 a.

I have noticed this too! I have lots of trail cam photos showing pigs coming out early even during a full moon. but as soon as it's over the pigs start to come in later.
