I've been hitting my targets with aiming with both eyes open instead of aiming with dominant eye. Just curious to know if any else shooting this way 2?

Aloha, Lyle!

I am in the same boat as you Lyle, I think most guys shooting without a sight do this.

Except I don't always hit the target lol Sad

shooting with both eyes open Empty recurve

when shooting my recurve, i use both eyes open. i guess it's because i have less of a hold time at full draw, to acquire a target.

I learned to shoot with both eyes open years ago with rifles and handguns. When I later took up archery, it was natural for me to shoot both eyes open also. You can take your shot, but still have excellent peripheral vison, so you can see what your arrow does in flight, or watch what that animal does when hit, etc. I actually shoot worse if I try to close one eye, because it doesn't feel natural to me..... cyclops

unlike you blessed individuals I am right handed but left eye dominant. Therefore I have to shut one eye when I shoot either a rifle or bow. With a scope or red dot sight I can shoot both eyes open

I have seen some beginners shoot with both eyes closed. I guess this is a technique for shooting too.

I usually shoot with both eyes open. Except at long range targets 50 yards and over than I close my left eye after settling my pin.
