compound bow recomendations
Howsit everyone,
I'm getting into bow hunting and want a bow thats good for a beginner but something I wont outgrow if you know what I mean. Also maybe a bow package that wont break the bank. Maybe around 400 or less? Right now I have a browning I think? that someone gave me but its old and heavy as hell. I think i'm a 30" draw but this bow is 27. So I wanna update. The only place on Kauai that I know of that sells bows has only 3. All bowtech's which are nice but too pricey for me right now. So either I gotta order online or try to pick one out when I go to oahu in a few weeks.
I just found this site and already gained a weath of information. Thanks for sharing guys.

Take a look at the Martin brand of bows. Pretty solid bow at a fair price, and can be ordered as a package deal with everything you need. Sight, rest, Case, Stabilizer, etc. Main thing is you you have your draw length set correctly.
Re: compound bow recomendations
In case you don't know about this store, check out Island Archer by the airport on oahu. They are knowledgeable and helpful. The prices are not bad either

Pleanty of guys on Kauai with compounds, try to hook up with them and try out their bows. I shoot recurve so can not offer any help.

Yeah, check out the Martin ready to shoot packages from Island Archer. Best bang for the buck, and excellent customer service.

did the peep site fall out on you? Is it something I have to take t someone with a bow press to fix? Most of the reviews have problems with the site.

I agree with the guys on Martin bow packages. Checkout the Martin Cheeta if your on the budget. Heard only good things about it.

+1 on the Reflex Bows. They are Hoyt risers that are from a year or two previous with new limbs and rebadged as Reflex. Still pretty modern technology without the premium prices top of the line bows command nowadays. I ordered a package reflex bow from www.huntersfriend.com and my bow came tuned and ready to hunt. I was drilling the x-ring right out of the box with minor sight adjustments. They have a package deal on a 2009 PSE Deer Hunter bow for $399 delivered to your door. I have no connection to this website, just had a good experience with them. I understand your pain as living on the neighbor islands means now decent archery shop nearby.
Re: compound bow recomendations
I have also ordered from huntersfriend.com and been happy with the service.

bows
I agree with the others about the PSE stinger. I own one. damn good bow ready to shoot minus stabilizer and arrows, for around $400. very forgiving and hard hitting and just plain fun to shoot. PSE also currently makes the fastest bow on the market @366 fps.

i dont know i change my peep to meta 3/16 when i got it.. and the peep turn is very comon on new bows becuse the string is not streched yet... and the guy talking about the peep falling out is probably talking about the tube used to turn the peep.. and if the peep did fall out its not the bow it was the person that put the bow together cuz you have to tie the peep in.. and you dont need a bow press to install a peep you would need a string splitter and serve kit but i would recomend a bow tech do it for you..

I'm selling a 2007 Hoyt 38 Ultra, with a Copper John 7 pin sight, Rip Cord fall away rest, peep and d-loop. It's a 29" draw with a 60-70 lb pull. It has been used very lightly and a great shooting bow. The draw weight it too much for my arthritis so I just bought a new Hoyt Katera 50-60 lbs. I'd like $500.00 but we can talk a little.PM me if interested or leave contact info on here and i'll get you more info. Steve

What island you on? I'm 31 years old and also have arthritis over my whole body. The bow I got now is at 70lbs and its a little to hard for me and I get sore. I might be interested tho.

Re: compound bow recomendations
Just wanted to say you're gonna really like shooting a bow fit to your draw length. Much more comfortable and accurate.
