Hey Kalama!!!!! You got it...lol, those falkin knives can get pretty sharp. ....I'm fond of the natural handles like stag and wood. They like to use European birch a lot.........nice knives,
Andy can you get your hands on walrus tusk?...I hear they make good scales.

Re: lets see your bladez
I'm always amazed when I take the time to read this board. I didn't grow up hunting so learn whenever the topic gets deep.
I don't have any special hunting knives but here are some special knives to me.
The top one is a single bevel sashimi knife that I just brought back from sakai japan I tried it out acouple of days ago on 1 aweoweo 3 aholehole and one menpachi. Very smooth. I am really going to try to not mess it up when I sharpen it.
The next is just another knife from sakai that is kind of cool
Next is a general purpose kitchen knife also from sakai pretty sweet. how do you say it. The edge just comes from the top all the way to the edge, like 2 kinds of steel. Sorry I don't know the termonology.
It is chipped from hacking through pig ribs, which is why I got the beefier one on the top.

Yea Timmy those Japanese sushi knives are ment to run over a fine keelaor a fine oil stone, just few passes and that's it, if you to go back and forth on the fish then its dull...I love the ichuru brand but can't afford them

Re: lets see your bladez
Thanks for the tip HYPA. Now I gotta pick up some wet stones (all I have is diamond stones) My mother in law also told me to keep the single bevel knife in a bag with coffee grounds to keep it from rusting. I havn't done this yet.
Any body know anything about this?

Re: lets see your bladez
Here are mine. From top to bottom, the first is a knife that a co worker gave to me a few years ago and to tell the truth I dont know how I got along with out a good Boning Knife before. The next one is my "old faithful", I have had this knife since I was 21 years old. I got it in the mainland while I was on my first mainland hunt and it goes on every hunt. The next is a gift from my wife. I got it this past Christmas so I havent had a chance to use it yet. The last one is my first try at knife making. I just copied a design that caught my eye and winged it. It is ok but my next one will be better.
Re: lets see your bladez
not bad baboose no matter what you make after that last one it will always be your favorite, kalama, you know what i like about those ol PI knives ..is that most of the steel was used from leaf springs from old automobile..and the handle is normamly water bisen.......bielieve it or not my first pig knife was a homemade P.I knife.....untill it got lost in waiahole one year soooooooooo if anyone see em das miiiiine..lo

Da Killas
The most used knives. The one i always have on my belt and my fave is the 2nd from the top, below the Buck.
