I had go hunt today too and i had catch almost as many, the dogs caught 4 nice.....................................babys .
So how you wen catch'em, dogs or guns? Just curious.

My 6.5 x 257 is off a japanese arisaka type 44 carbine. I use necked down 7mm mauser cases. Its got a lyman peep right now and I'm just working up my first loads. Loaded 100 for my old pump 25\20 last night. I'll post a pic when I get a second.

nah, which is kinda strange due to the fact that i run tall dogs how did your dogs make out any injuries?

The last boar we got only 2 dogs got small kine pokes, we was near by so we got to the scrap fast. If it was further away and we took longer to reach, i think the dogs would've got pounded, the boar looked like one scraper.

I bought a new rifle and this was my first time out with it. Ist time hunting with a gun all year and my freezer was low on meat.
Almost up onto the ridges and I heard something coming down my trail. Pig or dog? I flip off the safety as a shadow emerges from the brush. BOAR! His head shows up int he scope and BOOM! Down! 20 feet away.

70 lb boar, small tusks. I tip my hat to 'em.


I was talking to friends on the phone, taking pictures and making just about as much noise as I could. ...I always knew I was a soft talker. More pigs started rustling around just up from me so I got my stalk back on and snook through the coster bush in that direction. She knew something was up and was about to run but I seen her head through the brush centered the crosshairs and BOOM! Another small pig went running up and paused 30 yards away broaside. BOOM!

You know your in for some work when your meat bag is larger than your backpack. Aside from the meat I also took much of the bones for stock, 2 racks of ribs, a liver and a heart for my dog. I'ld say the bag weighed 100 lbs. I could barely lift it so I transfered some meat to a shirt in my backpack and then was able to bearhug the bag, interlock my fingers ont eh other side and let it hang near my belly. The freezer is full again and I've been giving a lot away.

I heard two other pigs came around while cleaning them but couldn't see either.

Looks like a Rem autoloader 740 or 7400 but I could be wrong got a 7400 in 270 Win and a Model 6 pump which is my baby. Maybe one day i'll get some pics up of some of the rifles.

Thats a long sunshade you got there buddy helps with the mirage off the barrel heat etc but sometimes limits the FOV on some models. Nice rifle though and put up some pics of the game you take with it.

Howzit Koa Boa! It's a Woodsmaster 742 with a Brunton 6-24X50 Scope and the scope came with a 4 inch and a 6 inch shade that I connected together just for see what would look like with a 10'' sunshade on top! I think look kinda nuts but yeah I no think I going be running through the bushes with both shades on! I going head up to the mountains tommorow to get it sighted in and hopefully run into a volunteer to post up for everyone for check out. I also got the negative from my other half on getting a new $300 digital camera so I talked her into let me pick up a scanner so I gaurantee going be posting up choke more pics for everyone check out real soon. Ah Rajah dat 742 Woodsmaster thats the predecessor to the 7400 I have its in between the 740 and the 7400. Wish you the best of luck and hope to see the many game pics you talked about. And yeah it does look trippy with the long sunshade on LOL!

I used to have a Remington 742 in .30-06 until some tweaker burglarized my house. I had neglected to put it my safe after hunting the day before because I was gonna clean it when I got home from work. I loved that rifle. It dropped everything I shot right in it's tracks....Never had to track anything. Take care of that rifle, Jusacruzah---She's a keeper!!!!

Thanks MauiRhino! Sorry to hear about yours getting stolen. I've taken 3 billies and 1 boar and a sow with open sights with mines and today hoped to try out my new scope but it just wasn't working with me and neither was the weather! Maybe next wekend!

Yeah, I was pretty pissed off. Along with my rifle, he stole a set of russian night vision goggles I brought back from the Gulf War and the boot knife I carried in the war. Of course Maui being a small island, it didn't take me long to find out the name of the guy who did it. Dumbass had his last name tattooed on his back, and had removed his shirt to try to hide the rifle as he walked out. My neighbor saw him and called the cops, who of course did nothing. It's been 7 years but I still keep my eyes peeled him. One day we gonna cross paths again..... Main point of my story for all of you is to ALWAYS keep your guns locked up unless you are cleaning or shooting them. I got lazy for one day, and that was the one day my house got robbed.....

Nice rifle Fishes808! I have heard nothing but great things about Savage rifles and have looked into picking up one in 270. Here on the Big Island we jut got Sports Authority in the past few months and I go there at least once a day for check out new guns or to see if new ammo has arrived! The Savage rifles they have there are sweet!

The pump is an Interarms Model 62 sac in 22 mag. Sorry I posted the pic without descriptions! Slackin!!
