Finally Got Him.....My first Boar
I took this nice boar last night at last light in the Pali Archery Pig Hunting Area. I've had my eye on him for over 6 weeks and after hunting countless hours last night he finnaly gave me a clear shot. He came in at last light to some fresh cob/corn mix and presented a nice 15 yard downhill broadside shot. I could barely make out my sight pin in the low light conditions so I was basically shooting freesight. Didn't see the arrow fly in the dark but I heard that resounding hollow thump as the arrow penetrated and knew I had a good release. It startedd raining hard at got real dark real quick. Thankfully, I had a solid blood trail with good deep red colored blood. I thought I better track him immediately before the rain washes away my trail. After about five minutes of tracking I heard a loud snort and jagged breath and the thump of a pig down. A couple of minutes later I found the dead hog less than 30 yards from ground zero. Upon examination, I discovered my shot was not as clean as I had thought. The muzzzy broadhead had just caught the rear tip of one lung, pierced the spleen, and lodged in the stomach. I was thankfully for the quick kill and good trail given the conditions. After reviewing my trailcam photos I've confirmed that this is one of 2 boars I have been targeting for over 6 weeks now. I guess persaverence does indeed pay off. There is one larger boar with slightly bigger chompers still out there that should surely keep me heading back out to the woods.

Red Hog
pit808 wrote:Finally got one after missing a bunch. This is my first pig by bow (bagged a bunch of deer in the mainland though) A nice red boar with small black spots. I haven't hunted for over a decade and finally got back into it. I dusted off my 14 year old Darton bow and passed a 125 muzzy straight through him. Thanks to my boys for helping pack it out. Here's to the dog hunters that we ran into that said we couldn't get one by bow in this area. hhhaaaaaa!!!!!!!
Shoutout to my boy Dean, your boy got one!
sorry for the blurry pic, only had my camera phone in the field
That Hunt was fun, Stoke for you man. All that scouting paid off. Packing that pig up that hill was killer. All in the fun. Thanks again for putiing me up in your spot, no action but there's always another hunt. I think we gotta leave Eric T. home, lol, he 's spooking the hogs. Aloha, Lyle

WHOA MEAN DA QUOTES!
WOW, neva know someone could quote one phrase so many times....but I guess can. What I meant was that by the property owner calling you and giving you guys ACCESS to the property that the game is on, where nobody else get ACCESS makes it a LOT easier to get game. You gotta admit that by gaining ACCESS to private property betters your odds. That's why get more game in private property than in public hunting areas...cuz hardly anyone hunt in there, making your odds better...das why plenty guys getting busted by that game warden, cuz they trying to get ACCESS to places nobody else hunt! If you get ACCESS by using craigslist or any other means then more power to you. Happy hunting! CHEEEHOOO!

ROOKIE..
WE DONT JUS GO DOWN THEIR AND THE HOGS STANDING IN THE GUYS YARD "SAYING SHOOT ME, SHOOT ME"
NOT THE CASE.
JUS BECAUSE WE GAIN ACCESS TO PRIVATE LAND DOES NOT MAKE IT EASY TO HUNT THESE HOGS
YOU STILL GATTA DO THE LEG WORK...BEFORE YOU GET A SHOT AT A HOG. AND WE HUNT BOTH PUBLIC AND
PRIVATE LANDS.. CAN, CAN ........ NO CAN, NO CAN...... JUS ASK THE LAND OWNER.
AS FAR AS THE CRAIGS LIST POST, AFTER 6 MO'S. OF POSTING THAT AD I ONLY GOT ONE COUNT'UM ONE
PROPERTY AND TWO OTHER PROPERTYS FROM DLNR BY PERMIT ONLY, U JUS GATTA CALL'UM UP AND ASK FOR THE
MANOA HUNTING PERMIT....
LIKE I SIAD WHEN U READY TO HUNT ILL TAKE U TO A PRIVATE LAND HUNT, THEN YOU CAN TELL
ME IF IT WAS EASY. COM ON CUZ U KILLING ME...

No matter the experience EVERY hunter knows that hunting ain't easy....das why they call it hunting not catching or getting. Before you even get out into the field, you gotta know what you doing with what you hunting with...no matter bow or gun or dog or watevahs. Hunters also gotta have patience and even once in a while some luck. Das a given.... but I got confused after watching you hand feed the pigs in one of your vids on this forum. Thanks for the insight...and the invite?

Re: BOWHUNTING PIC GALLERY..........
I was planning to post a pic of a nice hog I shot last saturday on Haleakala, but I've been unable to set up an account with Servimp. I tried following the directions posted in another thread and the image host hasn't emailed me back to set up my account. Bummahs!!!! Any ideas on what I should do?
Saturday morning I arrowed a sow right at sunrise. Field dressed, she weighed 151 lbs, and had 1 1/4" tusks. I was about 2 1/2 miles from my truck and it only took me 6 hours to get it to my truck......(only--HAHAHAHAHA)
Hopefully soon, I'll be able to post a pic of her.
