Right on Brudda Dean!

I shot my first pig, a 70 lb soe, last Friday evening in the Pali Archery hunting area here on Oahu. It took me around 30 evenings and 5 mornings of hunting before I finnally got a good shot off. I saw this pig 5 times, passed on her twice, and missed her once before finally deciding to invite her back to my place for the BBQ. I let her hang out for a good 15 minutes to make sure she was nice and relaxed before making a clean 18 yard shot through both lungs, dispatched her in less than 10 minutes. She didn't run more than 5 yards. I decided to gut, and skin her before hanging her over night to bleed out and cool down for 6 hours. I quartered the pig in the woods and ended up with 37lbs of meat (bone in). I made up some smoked jerky, roasts, chops, and some Kalua Pig. This was the first time I've eaten wild pig and man was it good. Can't wait to shoot another. I've got my sights set on a big bore thats been showing up just after shooting hours on on days when I havn't been around.

Packing Pig...the easy way out

This is the nicest one that's shown up in the last 30 days up on the Pali public archery area. This is my first time huntin' pigs and I'm not sure I know quite sure to look for in a good bore yet but if this one shows up during daylight I don't think I'll hesitate to stick him.

That area is so open I bet it's hard to sneak up on them!

Actually that area is a safety zone. They are right on the border of the hunting area. They always slowly make there way into the hunting area. But it was a nice picture.

After 6 weeks of feeding them. The boars are finally starting to show up before dusk. Just a matter of time now.

Finally got one after missing a bunch. This is my first pig by bow (bagged a bunch of deer in the mainland though) A nice red boar with small black spots. I haven't hunted for over a decade and finally got back into it. I dusted off my 14 year old Darton bow and passed a 125 muzzy straight through him. Thanks to my boys for helping pack it out. Here's to the dog hunters that we ran into that said we couldn't get one by bow in this area. hhhaaaaaa!!!!!!!
