training pups

i got two 5.5 month old pups.
whats the best way to start to train them?

Catch a pig a little bigger then the pups and introduce them ( depending on what kind of pups you may want to start off with the pig in a cage). Always cheer them on and give choke praise and always end your sessions on a good note (not after they get rolled). After they are showing interest in getting the pig then you can start working on their nose. Take the pig out in a field with your pups tied up or in a kennel and either drag the pig through the grass till out of eye sight and then let the puppies out, give them the command to start hunting and put them on the trail . Be sure to wear rubber boots or the puppies will follow your scent and not the pigs. You may have to "walk" them to the pig a few times but after a few sessions they should be getting the hang of the game. After they find the hog consistently at that range then you make it further and further. Remember to cheer them on and praise them for a good job.
You may have to hobble or tie up the pig so it doesn't dissappear! If one is accelling faster then the other then give the slower a head start or private sessions. Have fun & good luck!

Do you know any other hunters with dogs already going for pigs? I just started training some Whippet cross puppies with their mom. Last weekend they saw their first pig, plenty potential!
